If you are staying in London more than 48 hours the most efficient and cheapest way to get around is to buy an Oyster Card – a pre-pay travel card for all six zones in London on bus, Underground, Overground and some urban train lines.
Oyster Cards can be bought on line or at any underground station and many shops all over the capital.
Remember: On weekends parts of London’s transport system closes for upgrading and improvement work. It is essential to check the website:

What to do when funds are low? London’s major museums and galleries do not charge admission and are open seven days a week. Many have late night opening on a weekday with live music and other free events. They have great cafes and gift shops.
